About Us

Welcome to our homeschooling adventure.  Sit down and stay for a while, we have a lot to share with you…Our journey has had challenges, and triumphs but most of all a lot of learning & growing along the way!

We are a homeschooling family of 4.  We are enjoying  our homeschooling  journey in the heart of California’s Wine Country.  My husband works his tail off so that I can stay home and educate our kids the way that both public and private school failed.  I look forward to sharing our journey with homeschoolers, those considering homeschooling, and those just curious about it.  So take off your shoes and stay a while!

What kid doesn’t like a romp in a bounce house?  I know that throughout the years my kids have always love bouncing around in an inflated box, as if there was not a care in the world.  I even bought a used one last year.  More recently I stumbled across this blog offering an opportunity [...]

My son has a great imagination, and a huge faith that Mom can do anything.  Makes a Mom proud.  This year he decided that the theme for his birthday should be Legos.  So I got a little feedback from my son, and pondered… Favors – A friend of mind had given me her leftover favor [...]

The kids and I thought we would miss our chance to see the King Tut exhibit at the De Young  Museum because of the price.  We would have paid the general admission to the museum at $10 for me (adult) and $6 for each of my two kids.  That is already $22.  Then we would [...]

The kids and I went on a field trip last week, with a group of Bay Area homeschoolers,  to see the USS Hornet (CV-12).  It is retired in Alameda CA, and an amazing site to see.  The USS Hornet (CV-12) replaced it predecessor (USS Hornet CV-8) soon after it launched the Doolittle raid on Japan, [...]

Today my 8 year old daughter came into the living room all dressed up for “school”.  She had her hair done up nicely, a nice skirt, shirt and tights on.  She was sporting a backpack full of her math workbooks.  She approached me and said I am ready for school, teacher.  I asked her “would [...]

The kids & I recently went on a field trip, with one of our homeschooling groups, to the Black Diamond Mines.  The park is located in Antioch, CA, and is well worth the trip.  Tours are available in season on the weekends for walk ins, or you can reserve a slot for a private guided [...]

Soon California Homeschoolers will have a small window in which they will be able to file a Private School Affidavit.  The window is October 1st through October 15th.  If you are a homeschooler and will not be homeschooling through a credentialed school, but will be educating your child independent of any of these programs/schools then [...]

I worked with the kids for almost 2 weeks learning things about our State Capital.  We learned a bit about how a law is made.  What everyone’s job titles and responsibilities are.  We learned a bit of interesting info. about the multiple locations of California’s State Capital in history.  All of this is leading up [...]

My son developed an insatiable passion for reading in the summer of 2008.  Don’t get me wrong he has always been a decent reader, but last year it became a passion for him.  The important thing when teaching a child any subject is exposure.  When my son was a baby we read to him regularly.  [...]
